HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - BoS - 06/20/2017 Selectmen Minutes June 20, 2017 Selectmen Meeting Willcutt Commons 91 Sohier Street-Point Room Cohasset, MA Selectmen Present: Paul Schubert, Chairman Diane Kennedy Jack Keniley Steve Gaumer Kevin McCarthy Others Present: Christopher Senior,Town Manager Lisa Uglialoro, Director of Human Resources Chairman Schubert called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. Roll Call Vote: Kevin McCarthy-Present, Diane Kennedy—Present, Paul Schubert-Present,Jack Keniley-Present,Steve Gaumer-Present. Lisa Uglialoro reviewed the Board's mission statement and explained to the Board the process of developing their SMART goals. The Board discussed their goals regarding Capital Projects/Planning/Facilities, Communication, Human Capital Management,Technology and Finance. Planning& Facilities ➢ Plan, cost, and recommend funding to Annual Town Meeting(May)for the Town Hall project. ➢ Establish a requirement of best practices to successfully manage capital projects (costs >$500,000). ➢ Stimulate discussions with Town boards in reviewing the Town planning and zoning initiatives. Communication ➢ Increase communication among committees and boards with the Board of Selectmen. ➢ Improve communications between residents and Town government staff, regarding activities, issues, projects and updates through multiple channels. Organizational Management ➢ Review organizational structure of staff and committees to seek opportunities for increased efficiencies,training and development, and recognition. Technology ➢ Review current financial IT systems and alternative options, and determine future needs. ➢ Drive technology infrastructure development to support key initiatives including efficiencies in operational automation, recordkeeping and communications with residents and staff. 1 Selectmen Minutes June 20, 2017 Financial ➢ Participate in hiring of the Finance Director ➢ Review a plan for advanced financial training for Town officials. ➢ Explore options for more effectively managing the Town pension reserves. ➢ Analyze strategies for fully funding OPEB. The Board agreed to check in on their goals in September, December, March and June. Motion by Selectman McCarthy to adjourn, seconded by Selectman Gaumer and the vote was unanimous(5-0).
