HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - AHSC - 02/19/2019 Minutes of the Affordable Housing Committee Tuesday February 1911, 7 PM Town Hall—Basement Attendees: Robert Jeffers,Jack Creighton, Paul Kierce, Peter Hobson, Susan Sardina, Beth Tarpey, Clark Brewer Guest : Alexis Smith Meeting Called to order @ 7:05 PM Minutes from previous meeting approved (Jack moved, Paul Second, unanimously accepted) The committee discussed and voted to suggest to the selectmen that the Affordable Housing Trust should have a member from the Affordable Housing Committee. Paul Kierce left to attend the selectmen's meeting. Alexis Smith from the MAPC gave a general update on the creation of the Housing Production Plan and then discussed three topics in detail 1) Needs assessment and demand projections—the committee discussed the work done and assumptions made regarding the master plan 2) Outreach—the committee discussed the outreach that has begun at the Senior Center and discussed ideas on how to get broader feedback. Ideas included attending the Recreation Dept fair, setting up a booth at the transfer station and a general call out for feedback 3) Development Suitability—The committee reviewed the draft version of several suitability maps. The committee will review the assumptions and provide feedback to Alexis. Paul Kierce gave an update of the Selectmen's meeting regarding the Affordable Housing Trust. They took our suggestion under advisement and may be open to the Affordable Housing Committee having one non-voting seat. A brief discussion was had regarding the potential Habitat project. The committee discussed to do's for the next meeting, including - Reading the housing assessment and reviewing the suitability maps. Members should provide feedback to Alexis via Rob.The committee will also consider and discuss potential Affordable Housing goals that go beyond the 40B requirements that we would recommend including in the Housing Production Plan.
