HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - AHSC - 01/09/2017 Cohasset Affordable Housing Steering Committee Meeting Minutes January 9, 2017 Wilcutt Commons 91 Sohier Street, Cohasset MA 02025 Attendees: Paul Kierce Peter Hobson Diane Danielson Rob Jeffers Bridget Bearden Not in Attendance: David Drinan Susan Regan 7:17p meeting called to order by Diane Danielson. After review of the December meeting minutes, a motion to approve was made by Rob Jeffers, and seconded by Peter Hobson. Vote was unanimous. Discussion of Habitat for Humanity and Cohasset Historical Society units followed, in regards to units that are not currently deeded affordable. It was noted that the town counsel should be sought regarding the Habitat for Humanity units, as they could potentially add to the affordable housing stock in the future. A number of groups were noted for future brainstorming sessions, including Habitat for Humanity, Pioneer Valley, and Cohasset Historical Society. Given the opportunity to tie together cultural and historical causes with affordable housing, the Committee will research the applicability of Massachusetts Cultural Council funding. The Committee reflected on its charge and the proper terminology to use going forward regarding housing stock and policy. The Committee reaffirmed that it's focus will be on setting a policy in line with 40B versus 40R, following a discussion of resources currently available to meet the town's transportation needs. Discussion of Sunrise Assisted Living followed, in regards to units that are not currently deeded affordable. Units at Sunrise do not qualify as affordably housing, though further research will be conducted on how the units add to the town's housing stock. The committee reviewed several of Cohasset's master planning maps, including Map 6— Development Capacity Under Current Zoning, Map 1- Land Use and Infrastructure, and the Zoning District Map. A motion to adjourn was made by Rob Jeffers seconded by Paul Kierce, vote unanimous. 8:52p.
