approve it, Chapman seconded. The motion was approved 5-0.
Regarding the Snow and Ice overage of $9,499.91, Lieb moved that we approve,
Carlson seconded and the motion passed 5-0.
Roth stated that we will be more active in the budget process this year. Our calendar
will be published after it is approved by the Advisory Committee.
Roth discussed implementation of the Special Town Meeting warrant articles and the
budget message with the Board of Selectmen and Senior.
Senior informed us that the Long Range Planning Committee will meet on August 21
and on September 5 there will be a joint meeting with the Board of Selectmen and the
Advisory Committee to discuss the budget message and the Town Hall project.

We reviewed the 2017-2018 schedule that Roth created with Senior. The STM warrant
closes on August 1. By September 14 we will research the articles. Liaisons should
meet with their committees if they have warrant articles and be prepared to vote on the
articles.
September 26 we will meet with the Board of Selectmen to work on the budget
message. This date may change.
October 16 is Special Town Meeting.
October to December we will meet with the departments. Fitzpatrick asked for a
standardized budget report from each department. He also want to discuss head
count in the departments.
Carlson also asked for head count changes and expected salary and functions of new
hires.
Roth stated that we need to discuss upcoming labor negotiations with Senior before he
meets with the affected department heads. Liaisons can and should sit in on these
meetings.
Lieb stressed that our liaisons need to be involved in the budget process with their
committees and boards. Liaison assignments were discussed.
Chapman stated that we need to coordinate better with Capital Budget and CPC.
We need to have somebody work on IT, facilities, and Town Clerk.
Roth mentioned that in Wellesley the Advisory Committee sends a letter to Town
Meeting. She will send us a copy of a recent letter. A conflict with our procedure is
that Senior usually send such a message.
Chapman want to put benefits under the line for budget purposes so that each
department sees the impact of their decisions on this major budget issue.
Roth stated that our next meeting is scheduled for September S.
8:10 PM Chapman moved adjournment, Fitzpatrick seconded. The motion passed 5 -
0.
Respectively submitted,
Paul Carlson
