MEETING MINUTES
Town of Cohasset
Advisory Committee
TIME: December 2, 2014

THE FOLLOWING ITEMS WERE DISCUSSED:
1. Call to order: The meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm by Peter Pescatore, Chair of
the Advisory Committee.
2. Shaun Selha, Chair, Alternative Energy Committee
Shaun presented on the status of initiatives underway at the Alternative Energy
Committee.
As background, the Town's energy usage was reviewed:

• Total energy costs exceed $1 million per year with electricity roughly 2/3 and
natural gas roughly 1/3 of costs.
• Electricity Rates for Winter 2015 expected to be at $0.20/kWh vs. $0.15/kWh
• Rates are projected to go up by 3%per year
Initiatives underway include:
• Solar energy procurement
• Energy conservation
• Streetlight procurement
• Green Communities designation
• Energy management system utilization
An overview of each of these initiatives was provided.
3. Review of Financials
The Committee reviewed Mary's report of department expenditures and Dave's report on
the schools. The Chair reported that four months into the year, no major trends have
begun to develop.
It was noted that the total number of students is lower than projected. Dave DeGennaro
briefly addressed the total number of students and whether or not there would be
adjustments to the budget given the expected number of students.
4. Liaison Reports
The liaison to the Alternative Energy Committee deferred to the presentation made by the
AEC Chair.
Nothing else was reported.
5. Meeting Minutes from November 17, 2014
Meeting minutes were not available for review.
6. Election of Officers
The Advisory Committee must elect officers every December.
A MOTION TO NOMINATE PETER PESCA TORE to be Chair made by Rich Fitzpatrick
and seconded by Leland Jenkins. Approved 7-0.

A MOTION TO NOMINATE NAN ROTH to be Vice-Chair was made by Linda Mooney
and seconded by Leland Jenkins. Approved 7-0.
A MOTION TO NOMINATE JOHN CHAPMAN to be Secretary was made by Linda
Mooney and seconded by Leland Jenkins. Approved 7-0.
7. Other Business
The Town Manager indicated that the budget was under review and would be presented
at a future date.
The Town has been accepted into the Resident Connect program where residents can
submit notification on town matters by IPad or PDA. It should help to consolidate
constituent reports and activity.
Thursday evening will be the third fiscal forecasting presentation with a presentation by
Garrett Bradley. The state budget has been withheld, but information will be provided as
available.
Association of Town Finance Committee has presented the 2014 Finance Committee
Handbook.
8. Motion to Adjourn
A MOTION TO ADJOURN was made by Leland Jenkins and seconded by Bob Benson.
