REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF SELECTMEN HELD ON SEPTEMBER 5, 1962 All Present Voted: To approve the minutes of the meeting of August 28, 1962 as submitted. Voted: To authorize George McLaughlin to request a transfer from the Advisory Board in t he amount of $2,500.00 for Cunningham' s Bridge. Voted: To authorize the Treasurer to borrow $7*500 on a short term note* subject to the Advisory Boardts approval. Voted: To write to Anne M. Curley and request at least one other bid for the work to be performed at the Auxiliary Room in Legion Hall. Voted: To approve the revised dates for the use of the Town Hall by Mr. Yott - February 1 and May ll, 1 963. Voted: To authorize the Town Treasurer to purchase back Woodside Cemetery Lot No. 144 in Section B from Kenneth Backman for the same price of $27.00 paid in 1957. Voted: To approve the Building Permit for James C. Salyardsfor an 8 foot addition to bedroom at 11 Tupelo Road. Voted: To approve the Building Permit for William B. Reardon of 8 West Gate Lane for a dormer - replace two sashes. Voted: To authorize Rufus James to repair markers at Green Gate Cemetery at his price of $20.00. Voted: To refer the request of William Gray of 69 Jerusalem Road for a Blind Drive sign to Chief Pelletier for his recommendations. Voted: To write to The Quincy Oil Company and request that they clean the oil burners in town buildings. The Board decided to write a letter to Mrs. John Woods and thank her for her donation of the memorial Flag to be flown in front of the new Fire & Police Station Building, Herbert Marsh appeared before the Selectmen inquiring as to the status of Beechwood Cemetery Acquisition. PME 2 Selectments Meeting - September 12, 1962 Voted: That Mr. Elmer H. Pratt, 51 Gammons Road be appointed to the Board of Appeals, as a three year term member, term to expire March 1965. Voted: To re-appoint Mr. Arthur L. Lehr, Jr. , 200 North Main Street as an Associate Member to the Board of Appeals, term to expire March 1965. Voted: To authorize the Boston Gas Company permission to install a gas supply for Alfred M. Patterson - 223 Pond Street. There was a jury drawing for Traverse Criminal Court, returnable October 1, 1962. The name drawn was Mary H. Ahearn, 100 Forest Avenue. Noted: To appoint Louis F. Eaton, Jr. , as assistant Town Counsel to attend to the matter of the Forest Avenue Chapter 90 project, Wamsutta Construction, Inc. at no compensation. His disbursements and expenses to be taken care of by the town. Voted: To request Louis Bailey, Jr. to meet with the Board on September 26, 1962 re: Chapter 90 and Chapter -?TT projects for the coming year, ? ?� Voted: To refer request of William Bean to Chief Pelletier for recom- mendations re : shooting on private property on Sundgys. Voted: To refer the letter of resignation and personal letter received from G. Prescott Low re: Hingham Naval Ammunition Depot to Mr. Robert B. James, Moderator, and request that a new member be appointed and that they ass them on to their new Chairman, so that action can be taken the Committee to Study the Acquisition of the Ammunition Depot property. Voted: To authorize the painting of the Auxiliary Room at Guild Hall, subject to the money being available in the budget. Voted: To appoint Charles A. Marks as Assistant Director of Veterans? Affairs without compensation. Voted: To approve the incorporation papers for Albert M. Sencabaugh and others under the name of Cohasset Youth Athletic Association, Inc. Voted: To sign Paul A. Michael' s termination notice and return to Depart- ment of Civil Service, State House, Boston Voted: To write Rocco Rosano that he has been selected. to remove the building from the Woodside Cemetery grounds, and grade off the foundation level with grade, at no cost to the town. The work to be performed when he is notified by the Selectmen. Voted: To hold the matter of the North Cohasset Post Office & Fire Station repairs pending the Fire Chief' s recommendations. Consultation with Chief Piepenbrink. Voted: To authorize the South. Shore Association for Retarded Children permission to conduct an appeal in the town from Sunday, November 11 through Thursday, November 22, 1962. Attending were : Roger Coulter, Elmer Pratt, Arthur Lehr, Jr. , Ralph Williams and Oliver Parks of the Board of Appeals. Mr. Burtram Pratt, Secretary of the Planning, Board. sat in for a brief moment. Reed, Jr. , Director of Civil Defense to require a food and fuel inventory with reports from food. and fuel storage centers as often as he determines necessary. Voted: To authorize Harry H. Reed, Jr. to submit a proposal regarding continuity of government under Civil Defense emergency conditions. Voted: To send copies of Civil Defense operational plan to all Depart- ment Heads and to call. a meeting of the Department Heads for familiarization with the plan and to take immediate steps to activate effective auxiliary fire and police units under the appropriate department heads for Civil Defense use.
