Lee called meeting to order at 2:00, seconded by Rolf
Talked about the Ledgewood Farms loop status. Digging set to begin sometime next
week. Jason said that schedule running a little behind. Once commenced, should be done
in just a few weeks depending on the weather.
Jason says that SCADA upgrade is progressing along, but slower than hoped for.
Components for project are proving not as easily procured as hoped for.
Talked about amending water contract with Woodard& Curran. Brainstormed about(He
felt that there were) other ways to lessen the impact of Woodard's aging workforce than
having the Water Department pay for another employee. The work load has been
(reduced)modified since the beginning of the first contract by updating systems to make
more automated, replacing older water meters with radio read meters, and upgrading and
changing a lot of the equipment and chemical feeds for easier use. We talked about the
time to read the meters having dropped by more than 2 weeks per quarter freeing up more
time for other distribution needs. Also talked about hiring an outside contractor to
replace the rest of the meters to free up time for the distribution crew and ultimately
further lessen meter reading time. Brought up our still large debt service.
Then talked with Jason about the THMs,the upcoming study and how significant they
are in Aaron Reservoir and the continuing weed problem in Lily Pond-need to do
research if weeds have effect on water quality through filtering. Their intern will be
starting to put lab reports on spreadsheets, so we can view the changing trends. Also
discussed hiring equipment and driver from other town to remove weeds or do a trial with
contractor for a shorter time, e.g. 2 weeks rather than original quote. He will be looking
into it further and will present to us.
