Meeting called to order by Rolf at 9:07 am, 2°d by Lee.
Interconnect Meeting Linden Ponds &Aquarion Water
John Amonte told the board that they broke ground in November for the new building at
Linden Ponds. Lee asked if Aquarion or Linden Ponds had any issues during the storm.
No major issues were reported by either parties. Ronit Goldstein said that there Aquarion
Water has many projects going on such as leak detection, meter replacements and some
water main breaks. Accord Pond has been shut down and is now filling up. Lee asked
about the true up. Carl reported that we still owe them 300,000 gallons. Ronit asked if
Steve Olson was aware of the true up number, Carl was unsure, so Ronit will report to
him. Carl said it is still within the 1%,which the contract requires. Rolf asked about the
communications that have been down for over a year. John reported that he has reached
out to Steve Rose but has not been able to get in contact with him. John gave Joe his
business card; he will contact Steve Rose directly. They are looking for our IP address at
Whitney Crossing. The sale of Aquarion to Town of Hingham is currently in the
Appellate Court. Then there was a discussion about possibly coordinating Cohasset
paving projects with Aquarion for future water main replacement. Next meeting
scheduled for April 25`h @ 9:00 am at the Cohasset Water Treatment Plant.
Lee &Rolf asked Mary if she knew when the new truck that was ordered in September
would arrive. Mary said that she had nothing to do with that.
Review of Aaron River Dam Warrant Article: Carl said that 2 years ago the quote to
repair the dam was $110,000 - $180,000. The new inspection of the dam was completed
last week. The final report should be received within a month. The board discussed
using monies from retained earnings to repair the dam. Mary said that the Water
Department has $552,386 in retained earnings.

Mary still does not have a final number for the indirect costs. She needs to finalize with
Chris Senior. Lee said that the board couldn't finalize their FY2018 budget until the
indirect costs are finalized. Mary said that she is aware of this.
James Lane—No correspondence had been received in regards to the escrow account.
The board asked if any meters had been installed. No meters have or will be installed
until the escrow account is in place. Lee stated that she has been receiving calls about the
flooding at 8 James Lane. Brian said that once the grounds have been graded then the
water would flow into the storm drains, as they should.
Summer Water Survey Results—Brian has had the intern for the past month, they are
awaiting the final numbers from CSCR. Brian informed the board that he would have the
results with the next 2 weeks.
Scituate Development on Summer Street by Itchey's Comer—Lee told the board that she
received a packet from Doreene Close, 132 Summer Street, Scituate resident. She filed a
complaint with DEP saying that the development will encroach on the Cohasset Water
table. Brian suggested the board sending out a letter Scituate Planning and Conservation
Chairmen and cc Scituate Water and their Town Administrator as well as Chris Senior
and Kevin McCarthy.The board would like to approve any developments in the
watershed area. Mrs. Close was also concerned about the trees being taken down and
pools being put in. Rolf made a motion to draw up a letter to Scituate Conservation and
make sure copies go to Selelctmen, Planning and Town Managers. Rolf asked that John
compile the letter,2ad by Lee all in favor.
DPW Schedule of Upcoming Projects—Paving on Hull Street,Jerusalem Road up to
where the Little Harbor project ended. Lee said that Aquarion should be advised. Cedar
Acres Lane will also be paved prior to the end of this fiscal year. Next year Border
Street, South Main Street from the village paving possibly up to the Scituate line,but that
will be in the next couple of years.
Bound Brook—The contractor put in more sand bags and it is maintaining current flow.
Brian said that there is a lot of graffiti on the spillway.
Lee asked Brian when the truck would be ready. Brian will check with Carl Sestito on
the status of the truck.
Spring/Summer Projects—Brian suggested Jack Buckley's kids from the CSCR. This
would be for the wet weather testing. Last year was dry weather testing in the pond and
reservoir. Brian suggested sending a letter from the board requesting help from the
students to Jack Buckley.
Milfoil—Lee stated that there is no ice on the pond so can we look into clearing out front
of the intake soon. Carl said he would reach out to the divers.
Sludge Removal—Carl reported the bag is 2/3 full and will not make it into next fiscal
year. Lee wanted to know what the maximum is at Ellms Meadow. Carl said we are

pumping the well at its maximum which is about 4 million a month. Joe then reported
that he had a chemist here who made some suggestions about reducing some chemicals.
The treatment plant operators are testing now to see if it works. If they make the change,
that will reduce the amount of sludge being generated.
Caustic Conversion—The concrete was poured for the containment area. SCADA&
Electricians will be meeting this Friday. Carl has ordered the holding tank. Lee asked if
it would be up and running in March.
Meter upgrades—Carl told the board that over 300 water meters were replaced last year.
About 60% of the town is radio reads.
Lee asked when the board might have the final number on indirect costs. Mary said that
preliminary numbers show it will be $110,906. John asked for how the amount was
calculated. Mary gave an explanation. Lee wanted to know that with improved
technology why the costs have increased?
I asked Mary if it was ok to email the town fire hydrant bill for the year. She said that
would be fine and she would be an internal transfer.
John made a motion to approved 12/16/16 meeting notes 2nd by Lee all in favor.
Joe informed the board that Ron Frattasio, one of our plant operators was terminated a
week ago. Ron was replaced with new employee Doug Brandt. Doug has been a
Woodard & Curran employee for over 5 years.
Joe then reported that Carl received a letter from the UCMR,what this means is every 4
years with a list of containments not regulated currently and would like us to be part of
this. The good news is that the EPA will be paying for the additional testing.
Next meeting is scheduled for February 7`h @ 9:00 am.
John made a motion to adjourn at 11:00, 2"d by Lee, all in favor.
