The meeting was called to order by the Committee Chair at 7:03 pm.
The minutes for the meeting held on 08/29/2017 were presented for approval.
For this meeting the architects were asked to show a 3D presentation of the proposed building
and a cross section of the proposed Atrium.
Shane noted that it is time for the Committee to settle on a scheme number; Option 3 or
Option 3A. It was noted that the site plan will stay the same for both options.
Mark Toomey stated that members of the public have asked that the Art Wall designated for
the first floor be converted to a War Memorial for the Veterans of Cohasset. Doug Manley
stated that the War Memorial is shown on the second floor.
It was noted that McGinley Kalsow Et Associates had taken comments from the last meeting
and worked them into the new conceptual drawing; the historical building retains prominence
on the Common, the outside was livened up; the windows on the first and second floors were
reduced in size.
Discussion led to Option 3 or Option 3A. (Option 3A does not correct the discrepancy in floor
heights between the old and new structures).
Option 3 had been discussed previously.
It was discussed that Option 3 would have more useable space.
Shane Nolan, OPM noted that the costs for both designs would be essentially identical.
Fran Collins asked if the Committee had put the idea of a third floor to rest. It was answered
yes, that decision was voted and approved at the last meeting.
A motion was brought before the committee to decide which Option the Committee Chair
would present to the Board of Selectmen.
The Committee voted unanimously to move forward with Option 3 to present to the Board of
selectman.
Discussion led to LEED Certification of the building. Shane Nolan stated that most buildings
built today meet the LEED requirements. Discussion will take place as to whether or not the
Town will want to pay for the certification.
