HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - WREC - 06/24/2015 Weir River Estuary Park Committee (WREPComm) Meeting Minutes from June 24th, 2015 The meeting, held at the Weir River Estuary Center(333 George Washington Blvd, Hull) on Wednesday May 27t", was called to order by 7:08pm. Members- present: Dick Avery(Cohasset), Patti Coyle (Hingham),Judeth Van Hamm (Hull), Scott Plympton (Hull); absent: Faith Burbank(Hingham) and Dave Sibor(Hingham). Housekeeping: Members present reviewed and approved the minutes from May 27t"; no other votes were taken. Patti Coyle volunteered to serve as Scribe. Updates on current activities: a) Cohasset: both tide gates at Straits Pond have been open; algae blooms are not apparent, and there are no midges. Winter repair in Hull—broken asphalt was dumped on CCT's Windsor Shores property—reported to Hull DPW, has not been removed in over a month. Construction in progress at 559 and 589 Jerusalem Rd. b) Hingham:Trails Plan progress continues: though public participation at June 16t" meeting was not overwhelming, the input from those who did come was thoughtful and helpful. Stakeholders/steering committee (including WREPComm, Hingham Land Conservation Trust, Recreation (Commission & Department)) commented on and took the on-line survey at https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/R5W2XHV . c) Hull: Gosnold St property:very small, For Sale, said to be $90K in arrears in taxes. Lofchie property—Judeth Van Hamm reports that there is now a shape of the property that the owner has agreed to. This is helping Hull Land Conservation Trust (with help from Cohasset Conservation Trust)to zero in on an easement or a Conservation Restriction for approximately 13K sq. ft. of land. Water Matters Forum update: Stakeholders (Weir River Watershed Assoc., Hull & Hingham Land Trusts, Straits Pond Assoc., WREPComm) have not reconvened with Aquarion via conference call since October 2014.
