MEETING MINUTES
16 JUNE 2015
Present: Jim Fitzgerald, Francis Collins and Noel Collin
Absent/Excused: None
Invited Guests: Brian Joyce (Town Engineer)
1. CALL TO ORDER
The meeting convened on 16 June 2015 at 7:10 PM in Cohasset Town Hall—2"d Floor
Mezzanine Area.
2. PREVIOUS MINUTES
The Committee reviewed the meeting minutes for the 7 April 2015 and 12 May 2015
meeting minutes. Upon a motion duly made and seconded, both meeting meetings were
approved.
3. PREVIOUS ACTION ITEMS
Committee discussed the status of previous meeting action items including:
• Brian Joyce sent The Trustees of the Reservation an email requesting information
related to the condition of the Sanctuary Pond dam.
• Jim Fitzgerald to draft a letter to Cohasset Selectmen(copying Brian Joyce) with
recommendation that Selectmen instruct Brian Joyce to collect information on the
status of dams located on waterways which if compromised could result in flood
conditions within Cohasset.
4. RAIN GARDEN DISCUSSION
Committee had a detailed discussion related to rain gardens located within Cohasset.
Discussion included,but was not necessarily limited to:
• Current inventory indicates there are 48 rain gardens, with most of these located
within the Lily Pond watershed.
• Last year(2014) Jack Buckley(Cohasset Center for Student Coastal Research)
worked with student volunteers to maintain several rain gardens.
• This year(2015) Town hired Sestito Landscaping (installed many of the rain
gardens) to maintain rain gardens. DPW has a$7,500 line item budget for
maintaining 24 rain gardens this year. Sestito Landscaping will focus on rain
gardens around Lily Pond watershed.
• Woodword& Curren(recently awarded contract to manage water treatment plant)
will be responsible going forward for maintaining rain gardens within Lily Pond
watershed. (Maintaining rain gardens was incorporated into contract.)
• High school students will maintain several rain gardens around Little Harbor.
• Brian Joyce will monitor rain garden maintenance activities and ensure accurate
information is incorporated into annual MS4 permit submittal.

5. LETTER OF MASS REVISION (LOMR) DISCUSSION
Brian Joyce updated Committee on Town awarding GZA with a contract to review
revisions to FEMA Flood Maps. A total of 362 structures are "impacted"by proposed
modifications to flood maps. Brian Joyce is requesting Committee "host" a meeting(all
interested parties are invited to attend) where GZA will provide a presentation on
preliminary findings of their analysis. Tentative scheduled meeting for 14 July 2015.
Brian Joyce to draft meeting language and Noel Collins to send meeting notice to
Mariner and post meeting.
6. TREAT'S POND UPDATE
Brian Joyce provided an updated on the proposed extension of the Treat's Pond drain
pipe to improve drainage.
7. ACTION ITEMS
Action items are identified in above minutes.
8. NEXT MEETING
The Committee tentatively set 14 July 2015 at 7:00 PM (subject to Brian Joyce
confirming availability of GZA, etc.) for the next meeting.
Meeting adjourned at 8:40 PM.
Upon a motion duly made, seconded and approved the Committee approved the above
meeting minutes during the 22 July 2015 Committee meeting.
