Chairman Astino called the meeting to order at 6:39 p.m. Roll call: Barbara Stefan-present; Paul
Kearney-present;Jeanne Astino-present; Ellen Maher-present; Jennifer Madden-present.
The Chair then asked for a motion to go into executive session for purpose#2,To conduct strategy
sessions in preparation for negotiations with non-union personnel or to conduct collective bargaining
sessions or contract negotiations with non-union personnel. A motion was made by Mrs. Maher,
seconded by Mrs. Stefan. The roll-call vote was unanimous, 5-0. The committee entered executive
session at 6:40 p.m. and exited executive session at 6:53 p.m.
Chairman Astino called the meeting back to order at 7:01 p.m.

Public Comment-None.
Approval of Warrant-Motion by Mrs. Maher to approve Warrant 19-17S,seconded by Mrs. Stefan.

Superintendent's Report-Student Art Winner for Earth Day Logo- Peter Pescatore, Chairman of Open
Space & Recreation gave the SC an overview of the upcoming Earth Day Clean-Up scheduled for

Saturday, April 271"from 8:30 am.to 2:30 p.m. He discussed the events and programs that are coming
up over the next couple of months. They had a great time with the Earth Day Logo contest. He
presented the winner Bridget Wickstead with a $50 Visa Gift Card and a framed picture of her artwork
with an engraved plate.
Faculty Hiring Update-Superintendent Demas stated that there are three retirees this year. They have
hired already for one of the positions, as someone was already on staff and they are reviewing
applications for the other two positions.
Finance-Facilities Use Requests-Mr. MacMillan stated there are three applications before the
Committee tonight. He reviewed the process which they go through with applications. They confirm if
the space is available, check for insurance and check the custodian schedule. Michelle's Dance Carousel
is requesting space for dance performances and rehearsals. Motion by Mrs. Maher to approve the
application for Michelle's Dance Carousel as submitted, seconded by Mr. Kearney. Roll Call Vote: Paul
Kearney-Aye, Barbara Stefan-Aye,Jeanne Astino-Aye, Ellen Maher-Aye,Jennifer Madden-Aye.
SciCoh/Scituate & Cohasset Youth Football-Mr. MacMillan needs more information on the application.
He asked that the Committee approve the dates tonight and he will come back with additional
information at the next meeting. Motion by Mrs. Maher to approve the dates requested for usage,
seconded by Mrs. Stefan. Roll Call Vote; Paul Kearney-Aye, Barbara Stefan-Aye,Jeanne Astino-Aye,
Ellen Maher-Aye,Jennifer Madden-Aye.
Scoops Lacrosse, LLC-Motion by Mrs. Maher to approve the application for Scoops Lacrosse as
submitted,seconded by Mr. Kearney. Roll Call Vote; Paul Kearney-Aye, Barbara Stefan-Aye,Jeanne
Astino-Aye, Ellen Maher-Aye,Jennifer Madden-Aye.
Fee Vote-Mr. MacMillan explained the proposed changes. They are removing the course fee for some
art courses at the high school and removing the sign-in sheet at games for parents. Motion by Mrs.
Maher to approve the changes as presented, seconded by Mrs. Stefan. Roll Call Vote; Paul Kearney-
Aye, Barbara Stefan-Aye,Jeanne Astino-Aye, Ellen Maher-Aye,Jennifer Madden-Aye.
Monthly Update-Mr. MacMillan reported the expenditures are at 64% in the budget so far. Everything
is on track for the year. The Committee discussed the Kindergarten fees.
Vehicle Maintenance Update-Mr. MacMillan stated there are no major problems or changes with the
vehicles. They hope to receive the new buses from N.E. Transit this month.
SC Comments and Communications-Goals Review-Progress Report-The SC reviewed and updated their
goals.
Sub Committee Definitions-Chairman Astino thanked Mrs. Maher on preparing the document. The SC
reviewed and made edits. Mrs. Maher will update and forward to Jennifer Souretis to post.
Revised Cohasset Proposal-Collins Center-The SC discussed the Superintendent search with the Collins
Center and how it went. Everyone agreed they did a great job. Motion by Mrs. Maher to approve

$7000 for the consultant fee for the Superintendent Search, seconded by Mr. Kearney. Roll Call Vote;
Paul Kearney-Aye, Barbara Stefan-Aye,Jeanne Astino-Aye, Ellen Maher-Aye,Jennifer Madden-Aye.
Reading of Policy ACAC-Other Forms of Harrassment-1st Read-The Committee reviewed the policy.
Mrs. Stefan noted the only change was adding in gender identity. Motion by Mrs. Maher to approve
Policy ACAC, seconded by Mrs. Stefan and the vote was unanimous(5-0).
Reading of Policy IJ-Instructional Materials-15Y Read-The committee reviewed and edited. Motion by
Mrs. Stefan to approve Policy IJ as amended, seconded by Mrs. Madden. Roll Call Vote; Paul Kearney-
Aye, Barbara Stefan-Aye,Jeanne Astino-Aye, Ellen Maher-Aye,Jennifer Madden-Aye.
Reports from Sub-committees and Liaisons-Chairman Astino attended the AEC meeting. They are
working on drafting a new charge as an ad-hoc committee for the Board of Selectmen. Mrs. Stefan
attended the Social Thinking presentation this morning and it was terrific. Mrs. Madden noted that she
attended the screening of the documentary "Angst" which had a wonderful turnout and discussion.
Chairman Astino stated some local churches are showing the movie "The Hate You Give" over the next
month. Mrs. Madden attended the Safe Harbor meeting yesterday. There is a Youth Ambassador
Committee with a lot of positive work going on. Mrs. Maher reminded everyone that Annual Town
Meeting is on Monday,April 29th at 7 p.m. She reviewed the projects that are on the Warrant for the
schools.
Chairman Astino asked for a motion to go into Executive Session for Exemption#3 and #4 for
Strategies with respect to collective bargaining and a security update. Motion moved by Mrs. Maher,
seconded by Mrs. Madden. Roll Call Vote; Paul Kearney-Aye, Barbara Stefan-Aye,Jeanne Astino-Aye,
Ellen Maher-Aye,Jennifer Madden-Aye.
The Committee went into Executive Session at 8:16 p.m. and exited at 8:46 p.m.
Motion to adjourn the regular meeting at 8:47 p.m.was made by Mrs. Maher;seconded by Mrs.
Stefan,the vote was unanimous, 5-0.
