Present: Carolyn Coffey (Chair), Catherine O'Callaghan, Stephen Brown, Catherine Harvey, Sarah Pease,
Megan Brinzey, Elaine Breslow, Meaghan James (Director)
Meeting called to order, 6:05 pm
1. Furniture Purchase Discussion
a. Carolyn thanked the Building Committee for their hard work on reimagining the library
layout and choosing the appropriate furniture pieces to be used in the new spaces.
b. Meaghan presented an overview of the proposed changes to the YA Room,the Periodicals
Room,the Reference Area and a portion of the Non-fiction stacks. Some of the existing
furniture will be repurposed and additional furniture will be bought that will be flexible and
will work in multiple areas. Once the pieces are ordered, it will take six weeks for them to
be delivered. The Trustees were complimentary of the choices and the motion to approve
the purchase passed unanimously.
2. Other
a. Steve suggested that the library work to become a place for community discussions and
information sharing to be held. He noted that often items are brought before the
Selectmen without much community input, such as the recent proposal to create parking
spaces around the perimeter of the town common. The Trustees suggested holding meet-
and-great sessions with the Selectmen, possibly coffees or regular open office hours, at the
library. Another proposal was to hold gatherings to discuss topics that are relevant to the
community. Community leaders or those involved with the issue could lead the discussion
and answer questions.
