HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - HC - 01/24/2019 ) k KA Cohasset Harbor Committee Meeting Cohasset Sailing Club 19 Lighthouse Lane Cohasset, MA January 24, 2019 6:30pm Members Present: Tim Davis, Chairman- present Lorren Gibbons- present Elizabeth Baker— not present Susan Bryant - present George McGoldrick—present Abigail Alves- not present Matt Marr—present Tom Norton- not present Lisa Hewitt Dick—present Sean Kenealy - not present Chairman Tim Davis called the meeting to order quorum at 6:45 p.m. Approval of Minutes —Motion to approve minutes of October 18, 2018,seconded by George McGoldrick and vote was unanimous. Update on the Atlantica/Cohasset Harbor Inn- Ted Lubitz Mr. Lubitz update is that they are meeting with the Planning Board and Harbor Committee to accomplish goals within the Harbor Plan. Renovations on the Atlantica will start within the next 2-3 weeks and should be open by Easter. They are seeking proposals and checking on permits for the Old Salt house to fix. 1 Update from Harriman on Harbor Stud —Emily Keys-Innis Emily had a slide presentation of Cohasset Harbor Plan. Emily stated that Harriman came on board last February and has been pulling together the Harbor vision with the help of various boards, committees and consultants. There has been two Public meetings in which comment cards were available for input. Plan priorities are: 1. Cohasset commercial fisherman -Repair Government Island landing -add refrigeration for bait -Fuel access 2. Public use and access -Use of Captains walk -additional off street parking -improve dinghy access 3. Improvements for land and water infrastructure -Work with public and private entities to repair and improve seawalls -improve docking in the cove for recreational use -Study harbor sea level rise and storm surge 4. Support for town and civic organizations -Continue to gauge Town and civic organizations and their interest in the Harbor 5. Relationship between village and harbor -Provide retail, restaurants and village to harbor -Redesign Elm Street and improve sidewalks 6. Commercial Landside and Waterside -Update zoning regulations within the Harbor 7. Integrate and Improve Harbor management and uses -Identify "Best Practices" for Harbor Governance -Work with Scituate on joint issues such as Bassing Beach, stormwater and joint infrastructure 8. Ecosystem and Environmental Issues -Review existing studies and to determine current ecosystem -Address environmental issues 2 9. Dredging -Identify long term dredging needs To name a few goals There was discussion on different goals and visions in the audience. A copy of this plan was asked to be put on the website for viewing. Another draft will be done for public comment. Meeting adjourned at 7:45 3
