HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - HC - 04/25/2018 %A e '1 ? a o i u - QHASSCT WP4 1 Cohasset Harbor Committee Meeting Cohasset Sailing Club 19 Lighthouse Lane Cohasset,MA April 25,2018 4:30pm Members Present: Tim Davis, Chairman Lorri Gibbons Ralf Gjesteby George McGoldrick John Barrett arrived @ 5:18 p.m. Sean Kenealy arrived @ 4:50 pm Matt Marr Chairman Tim Davis called the meeting to order at 4:30 p.m. Approval of Minutes-Motion by Rolf Gjesteby to approve minutes of 3/22/18,seconded by Matt Marr and the vote was unanimous. Review of Current Governance of the Harbor-Harbormaster Lorri Gibbons was present and gave an overview of the harbor governance. She stated they deal with a lot of different agencies such as; Police, Fire, Coast Guard,Army Corps, Coastal Zone Management and Department of Environmental Protection. The Harbor is run by bylaws approved by Town Meeting. Ms. Gibbons and her staff maintain the docks, mooring field, aid in search and rescue and help boaters in all aspects. They are on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The budget is controlled by fees, which allows the harbor to be self-sufficient. They are responsible for paying bills (electric, water and phone) and fuel maintenance. The bills are paid through mooring fees generated,dinghy fees, user fees,skiff fees and transient fees. They have a pump out boat through an $80,000 annual grant. The Committee had the opportunity to ask the Harbormaster any questions. Chairman Davis asked if the Harbormaster would like to see the Harbor Governance changed. Harbormaster Gibbons responded that everything currently works well. Progress Report-Harriman-Steve Cecil and Emily Keys Innes were present. Ms. Innes walked from the Harbor to the downtown village area with Town Planner Pete Matchak and it was a very valuable experience. They are trying to locate the Chapter 91 license for all the properties in the harbor area. She also recently met with Jason Burtner from CZM. Ms. Innes stated they have a draft Notice to Proceed to be filed. The letter explains what the town is looking to do. She asked that any comments on the draft letter be sent to Pete Matchak by next Friday. Progress of Committee Members Objectives "Homework" questionnaires were handed out to the Committee to be completed for the public meeting on 5/31/18. There is a public workshop on May 31" from 7-9 p.m. at the Senior Center. Motion by Rolf Giesteby to adjourn,seconded by Sean Kenealy and the vote was unanimous. The meeting adjourned at 5:48 p.m.
