Meeting Minutes

In Attendance: Wayne Sawchuk, Fran Collins, Ted Lubitz, Mark Toomey, Josiah Stevenson,
Carolyn Coffey, Mary McGoldrick
Absent: Sam Wakeman, Tom Reardon
The Meeting was called to order at 8:05.
The Committee discussed the presentation before the Historic District Commission (made at
7:OOpm) and the comments from that Committee as well as from the audience.
They included:
- Appreciation for the improvement in the design
- Concerns (from some) with the glass atrium connector
- Concerns from an audience member about the level of light that will emanate from the
atrium at night
The Historic District Commission will offer a letter of support for the current design and it is ex-
pected that should the project advance past Town Meeting there will be at least two updates
given by the Building Committee over the summer and fall.
Mary updated the Committee on the meetings from Monday, April 2 before the Historical
Commission and the Capital Budget Committee.
The Building Committee moved on to the discussion of the Schematic Design estimate.
The initial estimate is $13AM, $1.4 M over the target budget set by the Board of Selectmen.
Ways to potentially cut from that budget and seek additional funding were discussed. Among
the ideas were:
- pulling money from FF&E (specifically telecom)
- seeking a reduction in the OPM and/or architect's fee
- finding savings, potentially from work to be done in the parking lot
Mary will post a meeting for the Committee with Shane Nolan, OPM on Friday, April 6 to review
the Schematic estimates and seek reductions.
The Committee adjourned at 8:40.
