Fran Collins offered to help staff. The Committee then began discussion on the plans submitted by the architects for Schematic Design Estimates (see attached). The Committee adjourned at 8:30. Comments from Building Committee Meeting 03-20-2018 1.0 In the addition: The relationship of the top row of windows to the roofline feels cramped; could there be "breathing" room added there? Perhaps raise the entire roofline a few feet? There are concerns with the overall depth of the vestibule, and also that from a practical standpoint the glass roof area, although slightly pitched, will be very difficult to clean. Could the vestibule could be reduced in depth and raised in height to be better integrated with the atrium space? 3.0 Regarding the two skylights; would it be possible to have one running vertically as opposed to two? Regarding the flat roof space for mechanicals; how high is the knee wall? We will need to see how the mechanicals "fit" into the roofline and if they will be visible from the Common. A1.0 Could we flip 007, 008 with 010? This might prove to be easier access for the Theater Group, and a more straightforward run for the electrical and mechanicals. A1.1 Copy Room 121: Would it be possible to relocate this area? There was concern that this cre- ates a bit of a congested area in front of the Land Planning Suite (we're aware this was a re- quest of the employees to have a separate copy room, but wonder if it might be accommodat- ed into an office space). A1.2 Copy Room 222: Again, concerned that this creates a bit of a cramped area. IT storage 234: Do we know what is designated for this space? A1.2 and A3.3 Regarding the stairway from the addition to the historic building; it seems as if there is not enough headroom allocated for the rise, and that it's not integrated correctly. General concerns about the "bathtub" that might be created with the area designated for me- chanicals.
