Annual Meeting of the CPC for projects proposed
Chairman Bonetti called the meeting to order at 7:03 p.m. He stated they have received 2 applications
for tonight but there may be more. The CPC is scheduled to meet with the Board of Selectmen on
March 27, 2018.
Historical Society Application-Kathy O'Malley and Glenn Pratt were present on behalf of the Historical
Society. They are looking to replace the climate control and air conditioning system which is 40 years
old. They included estimates with their application. The cost is approximately$45,000. They plan to
fundraise for half of the project. The Committee had a brief discussion and requested that they provide
more detail on the build out.
Turkey Hill-Dick Avery-22 Surrey Drive was present on behalf of the Turkey Hill &Cohasset Conservation
Trust and the Boy Scouts. Mr.Avery gave an overview and history of the unique property and stated the
building is deteriorating. They are requesting$10,000 for the project to secure the integrity of the
building including replacing the roof. The$10,000 request is 1/3 of the total project. The Trusts will
contribute the remaining money.
Osgood & Deer Hill Playgrounds-Superintendent Louise Demas was present to discuss the application.
The request is for the ground covering at Deer Hill. They have to pour the entire perimeter of asphalt
and a pour in place to every piece of equipment and enough space for handicapped children at Osgood.
They are requesting an additional $39,000. They are still fundraising for the Osgood playground, which
need to be complete by spring 2019. The Deer Hill has to be done by April 2018. The have approved
plans for both. The Committee had a brief discussion. Mrs. Demas will submit a completed application.
Council on Aging-Glenn Pratt-482 King Street stated the CEA is looking to move the existing bocce court
and build a pergola over the patio area at 91 Sohier Street. They would like to move the court to the
front lawn where it is more visible and in the sun. The proposed project is$8000. They are still working
on a plan for a pergola to shade the front patio. They need to get the Town Manager's approval. Diane
Kennedy advised Mr. Pratt that the application should come from the Town and that Chris Senior should
be aware of it. He stated Paul Kierce has discussed with Chris Senior. He will complete and submit an
application.
Community Preservation Committee February 26, 2018
Veterans Memorial Committee-Glenn Pratt-482 King Street advised the Committee they discussed a
proposed Honor Roll project at Veteran's Park preserving the list of veterans with the Board of
Selectmen. He asked the Committee if this project could be eligible for CPC funding. The Committee
agree to look into.
Town Hall Building Committee-Chairman Mary McGoldrick&Vice Chairman Mark Toomey gave the
Committee an update of the proposed town hall project. They added two more members and are now a
Board of Selectmen Committee. The Board of Selectmen approved a project that includes putting all of
the administrative offices in the new town hall with a budget up to$12 million. Diane Kennedy stated
the total includes$8 million in excluded debt. Chairman McGoldrick stated they are hoping for other
opportunities (including grants) for the rest of the funding. Chairman Bonetti stated he spoke with
Stuart Saginor the Executive Director of Community Preservation Coalition to give a presentation about
the capabilities of bonding. Chairman McGoldrick will submit the application over the next week. The
Committee had a lengthy discussion about the CPC funds and if town hall project is approved what
would happen to other proposals.
The Committee agreed to meet again on 3/12/18.
Motion by Susan Sardina to adjourn, seconded by Tom Reardon and the vote unanimous.
The meeting adjourned at 8:56 p.m.
