HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - EAB - 07/09/2018 COHASSET ELDER AFFAIRS BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING Willcutt Commons 91 Sohier Street Cohasset, Ma 02025 July 9, 2018 MINUTES In Attendance: Elinore Barrett, Tana Carlson, Jim Carpenter, Rich Hynes, Diane Karcher , Paul Kierce, James Mensching, Sue Reagan Not in Attendance: Elaine Coyne, Sarah Livermore, Taffy Nothnagle, Beth Tarpey Liaisons: Also Attending: Nancy Lafauce Paul Kierce, Chairman called the meeting to order at 8:33 am. Minutes accepted. Treasurer's Report: Elaine Coyne out today. Paul presented. Year-end financials were sent out. Coral ordered 4 round tables and 16 chairs and umbrellas. Also office chairs for the staff, and a hot dog machine. New vehicles are in process. Siobhan Lynch is now a town employee effective July 1. A separate insert for a real estate tax donations for seniors has been reinstated with tax bill twice a year. (Hiatus of 10 years). Nancy Lafauce will let the seniors know of the availability of help through the newsletter and the Cohasset Cares program. Director's Report: Given by Assistant Director Nancy Lafauce: Games have been purchased, as well as office chairs and patio furniture. Annual performance evaluations are being done. Formula grant of$16k will no longer be used for Siobhan's salary so freed up to spend on programs, transportation etc. Hopefully programs can extend later in the day into early evening. The program Art Matters is very popular. DPW cuts the grass, the sprinkler system is shut off, and the Launch program does the weeding. There was a lengthy discussion about programs. Open Business: Tana said we are all set with Board seats. Liaison Reports: Affordable - Paul - next Tuesday, 7/17 meeting. Discussions about 40B - 10% of housing has to be affordable. Town has say on how to build. A housing plan will be established. Mr. Stasko has suggested building rentals, 20% of those affordable. Avalon may add some units, and the Trettis house is for sale. Hopefully town can buy and use as Veterans' housing. Asking price $610k. Social Service League - Tana - Spoke of the 15t Day Home program offered by SSH. Paul suggested letting the Cohasset Fire Dept know of the program. Nancy said there is an outreach meeting every quarter here and will let them know the program is available. Also will put in newsletter. Swimming Center - Diane - Triathlon was Saturday. Pool is now open. Brian Sasso is the new director. Meeting adjourned @ 10:18 am.
