MINUTES
In Attendance: Elinore Barrett, Tana Carlson, Elaine Coyne, Rich Hynes,
Diana Karcher, Paul Kierce, Sarah Livermore, James Mensching, Taffy

Not in Attendance: Jim Carpenter, Sue Reagan

Paul Kierce called the meeting to order at 8:37 am.
Our condolences to Jim Carpenter for the loss of his wife this week end.
Minutes accepted.
Treasurer's Report:
We are under budget year to date. 68% of budget has been expended.
The Formula Grant from the state has come in, $16,374. It was $500 less
than last year. The revolving account has $18,617 in it. There was no
activity in the gift account, building or broadcasting accounts.
Treasurer's report accepted.
Director's Report:
Carl Sestito is working with us to get vans.
St. Patrick's Day lunch was held 3/22.
Health and Rec Fair held on 3/25
Wrote after action report for storm. There is a need for LED flashlights,
and purchasing chargers for phone charging station.
Volunteer Breakfast will be 4/19.
We are adding a suggestion box in the lobby.
Garden Club wants to put flower boxes out in front of building.
Shine program may be cut.
Liaison Reports:
Friends - Karen - Our own Mary K Richardson was named Citizen of the
Year. Life on the Rocks featured a story about Friends this month. 1st
Monday in May we will hold a candidates forum with Paul Shubert. 2na
Monday in May, Mary Ford will present The Citizen of the Year Award to
M K.
Advisory - Helene - working on town meeting/warrants and budgets.
Important articles will be coming up at the town meeting. Will cost
$600k to delay the project of building a new town hall. All town offices
will be in one new building. There are 600 meetings a year held in the
town hall. Some articles on the agenda will be marijuana ban, and plastic
bags banned.
SSL - Helene - 15-20 Holiday Easter baskets delivered. Received a $62S
grant for Safe Harbor. Discussion about vaping and marijuana use.
Cohasset Cares program was funded and postcards were sent out.
Edward Lappen trust funded the CO detectors for Cohasset Cares
program.
School Committee - Katie Dugan -will not seek reelection on the School
Committee. Congratulations to CEA at the capital budget meeting. Annual
town meeting will be on 4/30. $378k was approved by capital budget for
the schools. I am currently sitting on the Master Plan committee, and we
will have a public forum on May 9 to discuss sidewalks, harbor, 3A,
housing, open space, recreation, transportation, etc.
Veterans - Phil Mahoney introduced himself as the new Veterans Officer.
Probably will continue with office hours on Tuesdays with maybe walk-
ins between 6-8pm.
Affordable Housing - Taffy - We survived the storms. A generator was
deployed for 60 Elm. There has been more delays on the Trellis house.
Patrick O'Connor is working with us.
Affordable Housing - Paul - Sue Reagan cannot attend meetings on
Tuesdays. Beth Tarpey volunteered to represent Elder Affairs at those
meetings. Grant already in place to write our plan for affordable housing.
Once approved by the town the state needs to approve it. Hopefully it will
be done by December.
Town Manager - Lisa - Officially hired Phil Mahoney as Veterans Officer,
and Pam Fahey as Health Agent.
Swim Center - Diana - Brian Sasso is the new director of the center. Rec.
Dept is more involved and things are moving along. 1St of May the awning
will go up and we can watch to get an idea for our awnings here.
Open Business:
Paul - We don't fit into fleet management system like Fire and Police. We
have 1 van, 1 bus style van and 1 electric car. We were approved for 2
Ford Transit Connect passenger vans for approx. $45k.
Up for renewal - Diana Karcher, Taffy Nothnagle, and Paul Kierce. Sara
Livermore will start her 3 year associate member term.
By laws were discussed. May we will vote on by-laws and June on the
Board. June is our annual meeting.
Diana told us that 3 of the recipients of the 50-50 raffle sent to Puerto
Rico will be visiting to say thank you.
There will be a Healing Mass on 4/24 @ 7 at St. Anthony's.
Shoot out to Jay Nothnagle who was celebrated at Friday night's Celtic's
game as a Hero Among Us!!
