Board of Directors Meeting
CEA July 10, 2017
Minutes
Paul Kierce opened the meeting at 8:35AM
Treasurer gave her report letting us know all was in order with the exception of a$95 credit to the
bottom line.
Further, it was established that our gift trust account which has been unavailable for our use has been
approved and will be moved so that it will be available as needed according to Town Manager.
We will not have an August meeting but in September our full line item budget will be ready for our
review.
The financial report was approved as presented.
Minutes were approved for our June meeting
Selectman Kevin McCarthy attended our meeting and gave us a run-down of the latest happenings at
Town Hall and on community projects.A new Finance Director will be hired by the fall which is when
Mary Gallagher is retiring. He asked specific questions about our vehicles and transportation. The CEA
approached Advisory Board regarding a new vehicle and was told to come back next year. Our repair
bills are eating up our transportation budget and a new vehicle does not necessarily mean a large van is
needed at this time.
Taffy Nothnagle reported as a liaison from 60 Elm St. that there had been concern and some negative
feedback from residents about scheduling rides with CEA. Coral will follow up with Taffy and others at
60 Elm St.
Coral gave the Director's report which included the announcement of a new program for fall about
dementia for families dealing with this ever growing issue. It will be an interactive program for
caregivers especially. And should be extremely valuable to the community. It will take place in
September.
Coral also announced a 100th birthday party for Mary Edmunds in August which should be well
attended and will receive lots of publicity. All should try to attend.
Chris Senior welcomed and introduced us to Kristina Johnson, Senior Consultant for the Collins Center
of public Management at UMASS Boston, who will consult with us as she studies and collates data
from the My Senior Center system we use at Willcutt Commons. She will mine and analyze the data
collected and then consult and advise us on the use of our resources
at CEA. Program strengths, needs, weaknesses, will be studied. She will meet with the Board of
Directors in September to present tracking data from FY17.
Happy August,
Respectfully submitted,
Tana Carlson
