HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - EAB - 05/16/2017 COHASSET ELDER AFFAIRS BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING Willcutt Commons 91 Sohier Street Cohasset, Ma 02025 May 16, 2017 MINUTES In Attendance: Elinore Barrett, Tana Carlson, Elaine Coyne, Paul Kierce, Sue Reagan, Jim Carpenter Not in Attendance: Diane Karcher, Rich Hynes, BeBe McCarron, James Mensching, Taffy Nothnagle, Liaisons: Also Attending: Coral Grande Paul Kierce called the meeting to order at 8:38 am. April minutes were accepted. Treasurer's Report: We have spent 76% of the fiscal year 2017 budget. Spend 2k typically in a month. Formula grant expends about $1000 monthly for Sioban. Revolving Fund balance is $14,302 and Gift/donations balance of$42,585 FY18 Budget approved. Discussed outdoor furnishings. Treasurer's report accepted. Director's Report: Step increases for staff retroactive to July and August, depending on anniversary date should go through this week. Director's step performance evaluation and step increase is still pending. Broadway Cabaret has been postponed. Volunteer Recognition breakfast was great. Candidate Forum also went well. There will be a dedication of a painting, donated to Willcutt Commons, in memory of Martha Ogrodnik on June 13th at 6pm. Launch program is taking over weeding and watering for the summer. Grand Skipper pass program has started. Pictures are taken here or at police station. POW chair almost ready VFW donated funds for the chair in memory of Ralph Perroncello. The platform is being built and installed by a local benefactor. Hassan Signs will make the dedication plaque for it. Liaison Reports: Affordable Housing - Sue Reagan & Paul Kierce - Article 25 passed at town meeting. Any building with 4 or more units, 1 has to be affordable town wide. A trust will be set up (builders have to put in a certain amount before building). UMass will write a Housing Production Plan for us. State now has a tax deferral program for seniors. Town will put a lien on house to help senior afford to stay in their home. Habitat for Humanity has built in town. Population of our town is 8,300. # of people verses # of houses. Open Business: Jim Carpenter - Portable IT equipment is here and secured. Don Roine wants to build a mini studio. Rich Hynes has recorded last 2 events. Tana Carlson - There are 2 vacancies on the board, Cindy Swartwood and Bebe McCarron (Thank you for your service!) have resigned. Sara Livermore and Elizabeth Tarpey will join the board as associates. Town says we need to vote every year for Chairman. The other officers have no term limit. Meeting adjourned @ 10:07 am.
