MINUTES
In Attendance: Tana Carlson, Elinore Barrett, James Mensching, Taffy
Nothnagle Sue Reagan, Jim Carpenter, Rich Hynes
Not in Attendance: Paul Kierce, Elaine Coyne, Diane Karcher, BeBe
McCarron
Liaisons: Sue Reagan, Chief Silvia, Lisa Uglialoro
Also Attending: Coral Grande
Tana Carlson, in Paul's absence, called the meeting to order at 8:40 am.
January minutes were accepted. February's meeting was cancelled due to
snow.
Treasurer's Report:
Coral gave the report for Elaine, who was out sick.
We have spent 61% of the fiscal year 2017 budget.
Bills still being processed for vehicle maintenance
Waiting on Formula grant.
Paul & Coral went to the Advisory Committee to present the FY18 CEA
Budget proposal. Paul also requested to change the Transportation
Assistant position that is paid for by the Formula Grant to a P/T
permanent Town employee. However, there was not a favorable response
to this request for FY18. Paul then suggested that we will return to
request this change for FY19.
Treasurer's report accepted.
Director's Report:
We have new sponsors for the newsletter.
We are interested in comments and/or criticism about the new
newsletter. We are encouraging people to go online for the newsletter to
decrease costs.
Working on FY18 proposed budget.
Finished Annual report for Elder Affairs
Developed list of programs offered. Nancy is doing a great job.
TED talk offered this month is "Dive into an Ocean Photography
World" on March 22.
BSO Rehearsal
Community Garden Club
Purchased 11 pieces of patio furniture from an estate sale on Jerusalem
Road earlier in the month. Will use $950 left from building fund for
additional patio furniture purchases.
Defensive Driver Training Course and Wheelchair Certification courses
offered on 3/29. DDT is required of all drivers.
It will help decrease insurance rates from MIIA (Massachusetts Interlocal
Insurance Association
Updated job description/performance evaluations
Town Health/Rec Fair will be held on 3/26 at the Deer Hill School 1-4.
CEA has two tables and a rolling screen presentation to highlight many
activities and programs..
Friends are sponsoring a Cabaret at W/C June 10 + 11. FCEA is writing a
grant proposal to the South Shore Playhouse to request funding for a
portable stage.
Volunteer Breakfast will be held at W/C 4/27.
The electric car has arrived. Jim Campbell is driving for medical rides and
Gerard Buckley is driving "around town". There is a car available on
certain days for afternoon deliveries from the library, as well.
Liaison Reports:
Police - The Police offered a six week Citizens Police Academy for our
community. Space was limited to 20 people. They will run it again in the
near future.
Fire - Chief Silvia - There are 3 electric cars now in operation in town,
with 2 charging outlets. The range in mileage on highway is much less
than in local traffic.
Solar field at Cedar St. is almost ready to start up.
Saga of culvert on Beechwood St. continues.
There will be a CERT meeting before the storm tomorrow (14th).
SeniorSafe (Cohasset Cares) program is in full swing. We receive grant
funding from the state and an anonymous donor has given to the
program.
Jim Carpenter - spoke about TV broadcasting from the Center.
Good turn out for the Town Board Training Program. Will offer it
annually. Next training class may be in July. Q+A was very helpful.
A few IT programs going on around the town.
Lisa Uglialoro - Implementing a new HR + Payroll management system
Open Business:
Tana - Board Member update. Elinore, Sue, and Tana are up for renewal.
We are on TV. Valentine's Day was broadcast locally from cable TV. Jim
talked about CCTV producing here. Two ways to broadcast, either CCTV
produces or we learn how to produce. Tana said TM is behind this. The
initial install will be in the town budget, additional equipment is
necessary. Want to expand subcommittee, Rich Hynes volunteered.
