HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - EAB - 07/11/2016 COHASSET ELDER AFFAIRS BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING Willcutt Commons 91 Sohier Street Cohasset, Ma 02025 July 11, 2016 MINUTES In Attendance: Paul Kierce, Elinore Barrett, Elaine Coyne, Taffy Nothnagle, Rich Hynes Not in Attendance: Tana Carlson, BeBe McCarron, James Mensching, Sue Reagan, Cindy Swartwood, Diane Karcher Liaisons: Helene Lieb, Chief Silvia, Lisa Uglialoro Also Attending: Coral Grande Paul Kierce called the meeting to order at 8:40am Minutes for July were read but not accepted, no quorum. Elaine is now a voting member. Will vote on Officers in September. Treasurer's Report: Year-end is preliminary, final report will be presented at the September meeting. Formula grant has been expended. The impact of the new building will be reflected in other departments' budgets in 2017. For a transitional year we should be commended for managing our budget. Will approve in September. Liaison Reports: Advisory - Helene Lieb Human Resources - Lisa Uglialoro, Special assistant to the Town Manager. Lisa is working on policies, procedures, updating job descriptions, and departmental goals. Paul suggested the sign for senior center should be taken down at the community center. Chief Silvia agreed to take care of it. Chief Silvia - Cohasset has been approved for 1 electric vehicle by the state, but we are submitting an addendum to the original grant request for two additional vehicles, making a total of three vehicles. With that we will get two charging stations. 180 days to make it happen. Alternative Energy Committee will decide where charging stations will go. Recommending a charging station be across the parking lot near the Rec Center for the use of an Elder Affairs vehicle. Director's Report: Responsibilities of the Board have changed over the year. There will be a board training session on September 30th at Scituate Senior Center. 5 spots have been reserved. Will work with Sgt. Trainor at CPD to place a cross walk across Sohier Street near train tracks. Received tables and chairs. All of the tables were defective and have sent back. New delivery date not established yet. Summer Dance will be held on July 23rd. Swing and ballroom classes will be held in July. Formula grant will increase next fiscal year by $1680. We are speaking again to Liturgical about producing the Vista. Please make copies of Agenda, Minutes, and Financial reports prior to the Board meeting, at home, to save us money on printing. Please answer survey on Master Plan. Staff has asked that the Board become more involved in programs and activities. We are planning Lifelong-learning programs and Ted talks.
