HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - EAB - 05/16/2016 COHASSET ELDER AFFAIRS BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING Willcutt Commons 91 Sohier Street Cohasset, MA 02025 May 16, 2016 MINUTES In attendance: Tana Carlson, Elinore Barrrett, Kelli Gildea, Taffy Nothnagle, Elaine Coyne, Diane Karcher, Rich Hynes Also Attending: Coral Grande Not in Attendance: Paul Kierce, BeBe McCarron, Jim Mensching, Sue Reagan, Cindy Swartwood Liaisons: Diane Kennedy, Kevin McCarthy Tana Carlson, Vice Chairman, called the meeting to order at 8:40 AM Quorum not present, therefore it will be a discussion meeting today Minutes were read Treasurer's Report: CEA continues at 80% of budget (10 months of fiscal year) Personnel at 77% expended Expenses at 62% expended Gift and Revolving account not tied to end of fiscal year, they carry over. Liaison Reports: Selectwoman - Diane Kennedy BOS has 2 new members -now full Board of 5 seats Working on committees and training and budget planning group Master Plan for town will include community survey. Selectman - Kevin McCarthy working on affordable housing looking for members of a steering committee Director's Report Coral - CEA held Candidate's Forum, Mother's Day, Appreciation Banquet, Open Houses, Volunteer Luncheon this month Diane Karcher did a great job moderating the Candidate's Forum, which was well attended. 143TV did a great job broadcasting Open House, Town Employee Appreciation Banquet went well with some great food enjoyed by all Volunteer Recognition brunch at Atlantica went very well. Marita Carpenter was recognized for her outstanding efforts in establishing Willcutt Commons All CEA employees have completed choke-saving certification - certification for the building is also complete Tables and chairs are delayed FISH transition has been completed, now run by CEA. We have a sufficient amount of drivers VISTA Looking at ways to save money on the printing, collating, mailing of the Vista. One option is to purchase a bar coding app for the computer for $3000 a year. Looking at Liturgical Press again. They have made improvements to their services. 1500 copies of the Vista printed a month. Tana delivers copies of the Vista monthly to local businesses - Police Station, Nursing Homes, Realtors June 9th Veterans Forum will be broadcast live by WATD. 143TV will also broadcast VSO agent Vinnie Fontaine has doubled his caseload since moving his office here to Willcutt. Swing Dance starts Tuesday, the 17th for 4 weeks, then Ballroom classes on June 21St. Will discuss with Rec Dept. how to do payments online. Diane Kennedy talked about transportation within the town. Diane Karcher has been involved in discussions about transportation with Clark Brewer, Chair of Planning Board Ongoing Business Updates Up for renewal in 2016, waiting for their decisions. Cindy Swartwood Jim Mensching Kelli Gildea Rich Hynes was introduced as new associate member. He is the Manager of the CERT program and Commander of the VFW Coral reminded us of the Memorial Day observance here on Wed., May 25th @ 11:30 Meeting adjourned @ 9:50 am.
