MINUTES
In attendance: Paul Kierce, Tana Carlson, Elinore Barrett, Kelli Gildea,James
Mensching, Sue Reagan, Cindy Swartwood, Elaine Coyne, Taffy Northnagle
Also Attending: Nancy Lafauce
Not in Attendance: Diana Karcher, Bebe McCarron,

Paul Kierce, Chairman, opened the meeting at 8:35 am
We are officially in the building today!
Paul thanked everyone for their hard work, especially the Social Service League and a
shout out to Kevin McCarthy for getting it done.
Coral had hip surgery 2 weeks ago and is doing well.
Cafe will start up again in January.
Minutes of the November meeting were accepted.
Treasurer's Report:
Overall we are within budget at 36%.
We may need to fund more for travel and dues reimbursement.
Still waiting for the formula grant, expected in January.
Liaison Reports:
Advisory Board- Helene Lieb -working on fiscal forecasting, a 5 year plan for the
town
South Shore Elder Services - Ed Mulvey- SSES are in need of more employees. If
interested call Christine Mahoney at SSES. Fiscally it was a good year.
School Committee - Katie Dugan - Last mediation was November 18tn.
Memorandum of Understanding was sent to full union for a vote. Positive
momentum.
Strategic plan process expires at the end of the year.Working on that new document
which will not be a redo but an evolution of where they have come.
Paul asked about maintenance schedule for vehicles and how the schools structure
their fee schedules.
Selectman - Kevin McCarthy- Happy to see so many supporters at the Selectman's
meeting. Selectman are working on budget, planning, financing over the years to
run this beautiful town. We will need more revenue. They are exploring a hotel,
meal tax. Paul asked if a percentage would be allotted to Elder Affairs.
Ongoing Business Updates
Paul Kierce -WB Mason's Chris Haggerty can help us furnish the rest of the tables and
chairs needed for the building. The town meeting voted $50,000 in the budget for this
purpose.
The P&S was signed through both attorneys. SSL has to go to the Supreme Court for
approval. Bond money has to be received to spend the money. $50k has been
approved and in the budget. Procurement laws in the state say Town Manager has to
go out and get bids.
$8000 was privately donated for the cost to install handicap openers on the front
doors. Privacy and room darkening shades also have to be obtained, approx cost 10K.
Town will have a maintenance person for the building and its grounds.
The Veteran Service Coordinator,Vinnie Fountaine will now be p/t VA and p/t
facilities.
If there is a CEA event, a CEA employee has to be present in the building. If the TM
schedules an event, a town employee has to be present. Police, Fire, Facilities
employees get paid overtime, CEA employees do not.
Tana - Taffy Northnagle has been moved up to fill a board vacancy. She needs to
appear before the selectman. Tana is advertising for an associate member.
Director's Report
Nancy LaFauce -We are open to all new activities and services. Town Nurse will now
be here on Monday and Tuesday. We are offering message,yoga, reiki, podiatry.
Bridge will start in May hopefully.We are setting up a tiered fee schedule depending
on service and need.
