HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - EAB - 05/11/2015 COHASSET ELDER AFFAIRS BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING Willcutt Commons 91 Sohier Street Cohasset, Ma 02025 May 11, 2015 MINUTES In attendance: Paul Kierce, Tana Carlson, Elinore Barrett, Kelli Gildea,James Mensching, Elaine Coyne,TaffyNothnagle, Also Attending: Coral S.Grande Not in Attendance: Bebe McCarron, Sue Reagan, Harry St. Onge, Cindy Swartwood Liaisons: Sandra Halverson Paul Kierce, Chairman, opened the meeting at 8:35 am. Minutes of April, 2015 meeting accepted. New line items for postage, dues/subscriptions, newsletter, and paper products were added to our budget. Program services increase by$1500 in new budget. Senior Center lease line item has been reassigned to the Facilities budget. $45,000 will be dedicated to the use of the new building. Taffy Nothnagle thanked Paul Kierce for all his time and effort in getting the new senior center approved at town meeting. Report accepted. Liaison Reports: SSL - Sandra Halverson - Social Service League appreciates the support at town meeting and is happy with the outcome. Director's Report May is Older Americans month. "I Am Zelda", underwritten by a Cohasset Cultural Council grant was rescheduled to June 9. Volunteer recognition dinner went well. Candidates Forum went well and was videotaped by 143TV. Mother's Day Tea will be tomorrow (May 12). 901h Birthday Party will be on May 19 Veteran's Appreciation Event will be May 26. Vinnie Fontaine is the Veteran's Agent whose office is now at Willcutt Commons Ongoing Business Updates Paul spoke about the results of the Town Meeting. The Town voted to enter into a purchase and sale agreement with the Social Service League for the purchase of the new center. Details will continue to unfold. The Attorney General's office does not oppose this plan of action. SSL want to remain in building. Mary Hooper Trust states the money used from her trust must go to help seniors in Cohasset. Paul is happy to answer any questions. Items belonging to CEA at the SSCC have been noted and listed. Moving the office from SSCC to Willcutt Commons has already been itemized. Plans have been developed for moving and disposing of items, as well. Elder Affairs operated out of the SSCC for 26 years. Will discuss a gift/donation to them. New Business Tana Carlson said there were 6 applications for 1 open associate seat. She will announce choice at next meeting. Bebe McCarron has decided to stay on the board for another term.
