BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING

MINUTES
In attendance: Paul Kierce, Tana Carlson, Elinore Barrett, Susan Reagan, Harry St.
Onge, Jim Mensching, Elaine Coyne, Kelli Gildea, Bebe McCarron, Cindy Swartwood
Also Attending: Coral S.Grande
Absent: Taffy Nothnagle
Liaisons: Sandra Halverson, Diane Kennedy, Helene Lieb
Paul Kierce, Chairman, opened the meeting at 8:35 am.
Minutes of December, 2014 meeting accepted.
Treasurer's Report:
Formula grant will be deposited as soon as it is received from the State.
Gift accounts receive all funds until new revolving account is set up.
Elaine discovered an account set up by checking a box on the Real
Estate bill. There is $4,807 in that account but no by-law to allow us to
spend it. She is researching this. It may require a Town meeting vote to
release this money.
Report accepted.
Liaison Reports:
SSL - (Sandra Halverson) - Thanksgiving& Christmas meals and 20
Angel baskets were delivered.
New building is opened. Open House went well. Rusty Skippers
concert was well received
Kitchen is now mostly equipped thanks to Wayne Sawchuck and Glenn
Pratt.
School Board - (Helene Lieb) - schools are struggling with budgeting.
Some grants received in past are not available and grade 4-7 class
sizes are increasing.
Safe Harbor Coalition holding an informational meeting at Cohasset
High School on February 7.
CO2 detectors are available for the Cohasset Cares program. Coral
thanked Helene Lieb, representing the Lappin Foundation, for their
contribution.
BOS - (Diane Kennedy) -working on policies and procedures.
Reviewing FY 14 auditor's report.
Citizen's Petitions are due February 17. A notice of intent is due by
the end of January, and then a meeting with town counsel will be
scheduled for proper legal language.
Newly formed group to assess impact on town of special events.
Long term liability issues of town employees (and retirees) health
benefits and its impact on the budget was discussed.
Director's Report
1. Kudoos to the SSCC. They replaced a burnt out stove for us to use for the
remainder of our time here.
2. Liturgical Publication talks continue for taking over the Vista. Other
options are also being considered.
3. Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve events were well attended.
4. 3 grant proposals were written: a) Pet SMART training program for pet
owners, b) Severely disabled training for emergency situations regarding
shelter in place program, c) training for mental health care giver's dealing
with stress of long term care, and d) Video taping each of these training
sessions to enable the public at large to access same.
5. Transitioning the FISH program over to Elder Affairs by April 1.
6. Working on the FY 16 budget.
7. We now have a petty cash drawer as well as a cash drawer.
Ongoing Business Updates
Tana has received Ed Mulvey's resignation. Jim Mensching will appear at the Jan 201h
BOS meeting to be appointed to the open seat.
SSES has re-appointed Ed Mulvey as liaison for Cohasset to their board. If there is
interest in becoming a member of SSES, please call Hallie Lippa at 781-848-3910.
Coral will be out for 4 weeks from January 26 for medical reasons.
New Business
Tana Carlson will explore candidates for open, non-voting associate seat.
There are 2 openings on the SSES board.
