BOARD OF DIRECTORS' MEETING

MINUTES
In attendance: Paul Kierce, Tana Carlson, Elinore Barrett, Susan Reagan, Harry St.
Onge, Jim Mensching, Cindy Swartwood, Taffy Nothnagle
Also Attending: Coral S. Grande
Absent: Elaine Coyne, Kelli Gildea, Bebe McCarron
Paul Kierce, Chairman, opened the meeting at 8:35 am.
Minutes of November, 2014 meeting accepted.
Treasurer's Report
Formula grant will be deposited as soon as it is received from the State.
CEA pays for the monthly VISTA.
Expenses are on budget based on where we are in the fiscal year
Report accepted.
Director's Report
1. 125 people attended the Thanksgiving dinner at Atlantica. Many thanks to
Joe and Janet Campbell for another successful event.
2. Cohasset Cares continues the program of providing safety mechanisms for
elders to remain in their homes. The program is a dual effort of the CFD and
CEA.
A retiring town employee has volunteered his carpentry skills and Bill
Burnett (Triathlon) may be donating funds to the program. The grant of
$2800 has been received for phase II. A grant has been received from the Ed
Lappen Trust to install carbon monoxide detectors.
3. Senior Luncheon will be held at SSCC on December 17. Staff is providing their
favorite dish and the Friends are providing desserts
4. Attended Pet Disaster Shelter Training in Acushnet. It is the #1 reason
elders will not leave their homes in emergencies.
5. Applied for grant for the SMART program
6. Spoke with Liturgical Publication,who originally published the newsletter.
Discussion ensued about cost,budgeting, and offering it online
Ongoing Business Updates
Town meeting approved revolving fund
Town Manager was approved to spend up to $20k for feasibility study.
Bill Burnett (Triathlon) pledged 100 entry fees to the new senior center if the
selectmen approve more entries to the road race.
SSL has moved into the new center now.
Glenn Pratt has furnished the offices at his own expense.
New Business
Jim Mensching unanimously voted by board to take the open director seat vacated
by Ed Mulvey's retirement. Needs approval of the board of selectman.
Tana Carlson will explore candidates for open non-voting associate seat.
There are 2 openings on the SSES board.
