MINUTES
In Attendance: Elinore Barrett, Tana Carlson, Jim Carpenter, Elaine Coyne, Rich Hynes,
Diana Karcher, Paul Kierce, James Mensching Sue Reagan, Beth Tarpey
Not in Attendance: Sarah Livermore, Taffy Nothnagle
Liaisons: Paula Linhares, Karen Oronte, Jeff Treanor

Paul Kierce, Chairman called the meeting to order at 8:35 am.
April minutes accepted
Treasurer's Report:
YTD expenditures in total are in line with our budget having expended 77% of our total
budget over the 10-month period.
Nancy spoke about the difficulty of the new vans. The step into the vans is very high and
there is no grab bars or headroom. They need running boards and grab bars. Not user
friendly for seniors.
Town meeting approved unanimously to stop the voluntary contribution box for CEA
on property tax bills . BOS will select a committee to disburse funds. Can donate money
to Friends, SSL and Elder Affairs.
Nettie presently is paid through the Formula Grant,which ends July 1. We want her to
continue for next fiscal year beginning July 1 but need town manager approval. Expect
her to continue working on Age /Dementia friendly program which could take
between3-5 years to complete.
Treasurer's report accepted.
Director's Report:
Diane Picot, our new assistant Director starts today. She will be doing outreach and
programming. Our new vans have arrived. We have a new monitor that will project
our schedule, pictures and events.
Last Community Supper was held on Tuesday, May 7th. Legacy chats are very popular,
telling their story to a volunteer and having it audio taped.
May is Older Americans month. Mother' Day luncheon served 50 seniors.
CEA by the numbers: 340 individuals participated in 40 programs. 28 individuals
transported for a total of 418 rides. 15 homebound seniors received 337 meals from
Meals on Wheels.
Liaison Reports:
Swim Center- Diana-got a reduction in the water bill. Only 12 weeks of use and
business rate vs. household rate have been charged. Town will split the cost. ADA is
more expensive than thought. New diving board and 2 lifts installed. We are
reinstalling a rec room in the basement. Working on solar heating.
Friends -Karen - putting together by-laws for the 6/17 annual meeting here at
Willcutt. Cafe continues. Pan Mass Challenge in memory of Martha O'Grodnik tickets
are on sale here.
SSL - Tana - fundraiser was successful. Scholarship presented to CHS Senior. SSL will
pay for the landscaping here at Willcutt. Together with CEA, Town Nurse, TM, SSL will
help fund a part time social worker position for the town.
Affordable - Paul - meeting tomorrow at 7pm. Housing plan to be completed soon.
Working on a downsizing plan for housing like Pond St.All units (27) at Stop and Shop
will be affordable.
Police-Jeff-June 18, police will sponsor the Father's Day Cookout.
Open Business:
Tana-Jim Mensching has resigned from the board. Thank you Jim for your many
years of service. Jim Carpenter is now full member, which leaves an associate position
available.Jim Carpenter will renew for 3 years as well as Elaine Coyne.
Rich Hynes asked for nominations, 3 times. Paul Kierce nominated, seconded. No
other nominations for Chairman. Voting will take place at June's meeting.
Meeting adjourned @ 10:12 am.
