MINUTES
In Attendance: Elinore Barrett, Tana Carlson, Jim Carpenter, Elaine Coyne,

Paul Kierce, Chairman called the meeting to order at 8:44 am.
Paul introduced our new Director, Nancy LaFauce!
Changes to February minutes: delete the last two sentences of the
Treasurer's report starting with " A document should be written..., and for
clarification be replaced with:
The Board will request BOS establish a committee to disperse funds
currently held in our Expendable Trust Account to qualified seniors in
accordance with Massachusetts General Laws. Also the Board will ask that
consideration be given to consolidation of the Gifts and Donations
Accounts, and documentation of standardized policies and procedures be
established with respect to recording of gift activity.
Minutes accepted.
Treasurer's Report:
YTD expenditures in total are in line with our budget, expending 64.96%
of total budget. We received the Formula Grant of$20,256 in February,
expending $2,366 of it, mostly on software upgrades. No activity in gift
accounts.
Nancy, Elaine and Elinore met to discuss restrictions in effect on the
various gift fund balances and will meet with the Town accountant to
request consolidating 2 of the smaller gift funds into the general outreach
fund. There was a transfer of$5600 recorded in the Van account in
February. This should have come from the Formula account and Nancy
will clarify. The Expendable trust account reflects $679 of total receipts
ytd. This represents $465 of donations mailed in with the RE tax bills and
$214 of earnings.
Report accepted.
Director's Report:
Working on age-friendly and dementia-friendly programs supported by
AARP. Caregivers for veterans programs will start in May. Phil Mahoney is
helping us. We received a generous donation from Doris McNulty's family.
MCOA - working on Director's certification and would like to become a
certified senior center. Have to have certain programs in place and renew
every couple of years. Need to get a committee together.
Working on interviewing for the Assistant Director position. The formula
grant will pay Nettie's salary until June.
Community dinner held, 41 people attended; medical marijuana talk was
held 3/13; St. Patrick's lunch held 3/14 with 40 people attending.
We transported 65 individuals for a total of 304 rides in March. We had 30
programs/events in March reaching 85 seniors totaling 941 visits to CEA.
Liaison Reports:
Fire - Chief Silvia - working on budget; replacing some equipment, we
have a new fire engine. Also will be used as a class 5 ambulance, cannot
transfer but can administer ALS on site. Cohasset Cares has been an
incredibly successful program, Rob Ford, Nancy LaFauceā Mary Goodwin
and volunteers help our elders age in place. SSL continues to be very
supportive. Has received $2500 grant from fire marshals and the Ed
Lappen Foundation continues to support the program.
Advisory & SSL - Helene Lieb - Advisory in budget cycle, looking at
warrant articles and sewer issues, Master plan, Harbor plan.
Affordable - Paul - developing a housing plan. Habitat interested in Old
Carousel lot for a single or 2 family. A housing trust will be set up with
Steve Gaumer ,, selectman on that trust with 3 residents. Avalon is looking
to expand. Will be above 10% for affordable but still looking for
downsizing for elders.
Swim Center - Nancy spoke for Diana - relining the parking lot. The
recharging station will be put at the library for electric cars. Chief Silvia
will check on grant and see when it is up and then evaluate our needs for
the future as well as the town's need.
