1: 72 North Main Street. Alexander Vanderweil came before the committee to review his
previous plans along with some new plans. Landscaping changes unknown at this time. Any
structural changes will not be visible from the Common area. Also no changes in colors planned.
No public hearing deemed to be required but notices will be sent to all abutters.
2. First Parish: Short history given for our two new members. Windows are a large issue.
Simulated divided light is okay. Muttons will be 7/8th of an inch. The two large doors will be
pressed doors, and repainted. Wagon Wheels will be replicated. Also an addition is going to be
added to the back of the building but will not impact the bylaw, since it will not be visible from a
public way.
The Commission approved unanimously most aspects of the proposal to include, converting all
windows installed in 2016 to the equivalent of simulated divided windows by retrofitting each
with wood mullions attached to the exterior glass as presented in the First Parish plan. Restoring
much of the relief lost in 2016, with the addition of exterior trim as indicated in the First Parish
plan. And reinstalling the wagon wheels lost in the 2016 renovation with replacements
fabricated for this purpose.
Commission did not approve retention of the synthetic replacement doors. Commission
requested and First Parish agreed to reconsider this part of the proposal to come up with a
solution more in keeping with the historic features of the originals lost in the 2016 renovation.
They would come back to the commission on this item before implementation of the item noted
above.
