HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - CBC - 01/08/2018 Capital Budget Committee January 8, 2018 Minutes Approved 4-0 1/22/2018 CBC Members Present: Wakeman, Franklin, Host, Redmann Chair Wakeman opened the meeting at 1900 with the above quorum present. Police, Chief Quigley Chief Quigley presented the department's request to acquire (2) new Ford Explorer front line vehicles at an approximate cost of $86.568. In keeping with the Fleet Management Plan devised in cooperation with the CBC, the new vehicles will replace vehicles that will be retired allowing other lower mileage vehicles to roll from front line duty to lower mileage demand uses. The current fleet consists of (6) front line units / (6) Command or Detective Units and (1) motorcycle. One Command Unit and One Front Line Unit will be retired and replaced with the (2) new front line vehicles. A lower mileage front line unit from the existing fleet will be rolled to the Detective Lieutenant, whose current unit will be rolled to the School Resource Officer, whose current unit is being retired. In addition to the vehicles, the department is requesting $6,300 for Mobile Radios that go inside existing units. The Chief mentioned the replacement in the future of Bullet Proof Vests (funded Federally) and trading current 45mm firearms for 9mm units. Fire, Chief Silvia Chief Silvia presented the department's request to a Gas Powered Hydraulic Rescue Toll to replace a set of tools that are far beyond their useful life and have metal fatigue. The department currently has 2 gas and 1 electric unit, one of which is being replaced. The department has elected to acquire the replacement from Herst, their current vendor who they have had a positive relationship with through the years. Chief mentioned that one of the ladder trucks suffered damage and he is filing papers with insurance company to pursue its repair.
