HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - CBC - 03/06/2017 Capital Budget Committee March 6, 2016 Minutes Approved 4-0 CBC Members Present: Wakeman, Donohue (by phone), Dormitzer, Franklin, Redmann Chair Wakeman opened the meeting at 1900 with the above quorum present. Minutes: 2/1/17 Approved 4-0 1/23/17 Approved 5-0 2/27/17 not yet submitted Department of Public Works (DPW) and Facilities: Brian Joyce presented to the CBC following topics. Sidewalk Plow/Mower/Snowblower: Joyce presented to the CBC a comparison of devices utilized by other towns to replace the 2003 Holder Diesel Tractor unit. Joyce cited that in addition to width limitations, horsepower was a significant consideration as the unit goes out after plows so it is expected to be able to move heavy packed snow. The 100HP desired eliminates many of the suggested units, including the Bobcats. No votes were taken. Dump Body Replacement The CBC had the frame on the 1996 FL800 Dump Truck be inspected to confirm its condition so a new body would not end up on a frame in poor condition. Joyce confirmed the frame is in good shape. No votes were taken. Salt Shed: This request is being pushed to FY 2019 as additional time is needed to vet questions about the shed sizing and the location. Joyce commented that they wanted to investigate the possibility of using a State-owned shed on 3A. No votes were taken. RTF Office Building: A quote Of $70k was received to replace the current building, which inclusive of footing and foundation work would exceed $100k. Roof repairs are estimated at $30k but there are concerns as to whether the wall struts were in good enough condition to support the roof going forward. This led to a discussion on the overall condition of many of the RTF buildings. No votes were taken The projects as listed reflect the order of importance for FY 2018 as stated by Joyce (excepting the salt shed). Next meeting was scheduled for March 6, 2017. There being no further business we voted to adjourn at 21 :56. Respectfully submitted Susan Franklin
