School Department:
Sue Skieber and Superintendent presented to the CBC the followup on the following
topics.
Digital Learning:
The construct of Anywhere, Anytime Learning (AAL) was presented, wherein students
have access to materials and teachers at anytime. AAL influences the structure of our
Digital Learning Program - Get a device in the hands of the student day and night. The
school divides students into three categories (a) those who bring their own device to
school, (c) those who obtain use of a device under a School Loaner Program and (c)
those who borrow devices available in the classroom (3 devices) or the library (30
devices) when their forget to bring their owned or loaned device to school. The SD and
the CBC discussed the process for determining need and the terms and conditions of
the user and loaner agreement. The CBC recommended the agreement reference the
exact serial number or barcode so loaned thereunder, that paragraph: CPS Owned
Technolgy Devices be moved just under heading Student Responsibilities and policies
cited in the Student Handbook be included by reference in said section.
No votes were taken.
Teacher Desks:
A survey of the teachers was taken and immediate replacement was not indicated by
all teachers. A replacement plan was suggested by the SD where a some portion of
teachers desks (approx 15) would be replaced annually. The CBC was supportive of
this suggestion.
No votes were taken.
Playground Compliance:
SD was able to get an extension on the compliance deadline.
Osgood is a full rebuild and will request $90k from the town. Private funds will be raised
at a fundraiser for the balance.
Deer Hill is estimated at $61 k, with $26k previously allocated by the town, bringing the
balance needed to $35k
The public playground behind the library and used by Cohasset Rec programs will
require $92k.
No votes were taken.
Security issues were discussed in an Executive Session.
Next meeting was scheduled for March 6, 2017. There being no further business we
voted to adjourn at 21 :56.
