COHASSET BOARD OF HEALTH MINUTES

7:03 P.M. - 740 Chief Justice Cushing Highway— Failed Septic Disposal System
In attendance for this meeting: Gary Rich, Petroleum Marketing Group; Ben LaMountain, LaMountain
Bros. Inc.
The septic system at Fiori's Gulf/Dunkin' Donuts has been in failure for several years. PMG Petroleum
Market Group now owns the property and they are currently pumping weekly. The tank is under the
parking lot by the drive-thru.
Dig Safe will take 3 days to mark the property. Gary Rich of PMG hired Al Trankanis of Sitec in Marshfield
to test the soil, check for containments and design a new septic disposal system. . The earliest Site Tech
can start the work would be next week. If the ground is contaminated, LaMountain Bros., Inc. will truck
out the bad soil. The Board will review the findings at the next Board of Health meeting date, October
18, 2016.
7:14 P.M. - Warrant Review for Revolving Public Health Account
In attendance for this meeting: Lisa Uglialoro, Town of Cohasset Human Resources
For the past 6 to 7 years the incoming flu vaccine money from the insurance companies went into the
general fund. The Board would like to reinstate the revolving account for public health needs. Last year
the BOH spent $6167 in flu vaccines and the Town was reimbursed $13,000, which went into the general
fund. The Health Department would like to purchase clinical needs from the revolving account and cap
the fund at $30,000.

All agreed to the next meeting date of Tuesday, October 18, 2016.
7:23 P.M. Sewer Related Issues
Ms. Sarni attended the Sewer Department meeting and was asked where she sees a need for sewer in
Cohasset. She stated she would like sewer on Chief Justice Highway. Over the summer Shoe Market's
septic system backed up into 790 Chief Justice Cushing Highway; she shut down Starbucks today
because the septic was overflowing in the parking lot and Blu Mussel/Dunkin' Donuts has had problems
in the past.
7:25 P.M. Private Well Regulations
Due to the drought the Town would like to see restrictions put on private wells. Cohasset would like to
see if the potable and irrigation wells have an impact on the aquifer. There are currently 143 wells and
32 of them are just for irrigation. The Board of Heath is working on mapping the properties with wells
for the next Board of Health Meeting. Cohasset Water monitors the town water usage. On the next
water bill there will be a line item for a well survey, helping the Town track the wells.

There was 1 communicable disease reported, Shiga Toxin which is rare
The high number of nursing visits is due to the Monday Coffee Cafe.
August's Community Outreach/Meetings:
Ms. Goodwin met with David Ames, owner of My Gym, on whether the summer program meets the
definition of a "recreational camp" per the MDPH community sanitation regulations.
The Cohasset Sports Complex had their camp inspection.
Ms. Goodwin attended a training session to review billing of Medicare and commercial insurances for flu
reimbursement.
7:39 P.M. Public Health Director Report
Atlantica, Old Salt Tavern, Cohasset Harbor Hotel and Brisa are all permitted and open to the public.
Ms. Sarni is working with Mr. Senior for a new paid intern program to assist in a variety of Board of
Health projects such as a flu ad campaign, septic and well list.
Ms. Sarni has been in contact with the regional office for the State's Emergency Preparedness program.
This program will offer financial compensation for conducting 3 drills along with attending monthly
meetings regarding emergency preparation.
7:35 P.M. Approve the Warrant
The warrant was approved and signed by the board.
7:25 P.M. Set the Next Meeting Date
The next Board of Health meeting date is October 18, 2016 in the basement conference room of the
town hall.
